A vision more than 40 years in the making is now a reality, as the Pastor of Born Again Church selected developers Urban Campus & Core and The Clear Blue Company to develop its new senior housing development. The Church, along with community members, elected officials, and private sector representatives’ broke ground on Northview; a 254-unit active senior, affordable housing complex. The site is located next to the church’s parking lot at 876 West Trinity Lane.

“As a Nashville native, the opportunity to partner with a cornerstone of the Haynes-Trinity community, Born Again Church, was close to my heart and aligned with the mission of Urban Campus and Core to support community inspired development. This project addresses a population often overlooked, active workforce seniors who are a vital part of many neighborhoods. The support and investment in early-stage planning through programs like the Urban League’s RED Academy and Amazon’s Housing Equity Fund, were key to making this faith-based development a reality.”
Jennifer Horne, CEO and Founding Partner of Urban Campus and Core.

Born Again Church started purchasing parcels for the site over the past 40 years to build not only a church but a campus. Today the church sits on 35 acres and also includes a daycare, school, plans for a new sanctuary, and housing. Born Again is now doing its part to preserve housing within its community for the next 99 years thanks in part to the Amazon Housing Equity Fund.
“We are proud to be partnered with Jennifer Horne, whom I’ve known for several years as we’ve shared a mutual passion for driving responsible development that serves the needs of the community. We’ve both been engaged in the Urban League of Middle Tennessee’s R.E.D. Academy, and the opportunity to align with the leadership of Born Again Church to develop this community is truly rewarding. We hope this will serve as an example of how developers can successfully partner with faith-based institutions to provide affordable housing in communities where it is most in need.
Matthew Nicholson, President of The Clear Blue Company.

Given the dire need for more affordable housing options across the country, unprecedented opportunities presented themselves over the past two years to create the capital stack to make this development possible. During the groundbreaking, the Church shared that there were a few developers who wanted to work with them, but they ultimately chose Urban Campus & Core given the passion and expertise of its Owner and experience of its partner The Clear Blue Company.
“We are thrilled to partner with The Clear Blue Company and Urban Campus & Core on the Northview Housing Development, realizing our long-held vision of providing a nurturing community for seniors on our campus. This initiative embodies our mission to reach out in faith and love, offering hope to everyone who comes into contact with our ministry.
Bishop Horace Hockett, Founder and Overseer, Born Again Church.

The project is funded in part through Amazon’s Housing Equity Fund, a financing program active in Nashville, Seattle and Arlington, Virginia to support housing construction and preservation. Additionally, The Tennessee Housing Development Agency has provided $43.9 million in equity through tax credits and $53 million in Multi-Family Tax Exempt Bonds.

“Today marks the start of what will be 254 affordable homes in North Nashville,” said Mayor Freddie O’Connell. “The Northview development will provide our seniors with a range of on-site services tailored to their needs, including professional development, community programming, and health and wellness offerings to support healthy aging and a path towards retirement. To make these homes a reality took many partners stepping forward to meet one of our greatest challenges. Metro stands ready to support these efforts through the Barnes Fund, the PILOT program, and other resources in our expanding toolkit for affordable housing development. As the Housing Division rolls out the Unified Housing Strategy and the new Faith Based Development Initiative later this year, we hope to see more partnerships like this.”

Upon completion, Northview will deliver 254 residences that will be available to seniors earning between 40% and 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI). The 6.3-acre site was rezoned from R8 to SP Zoning late last year to allow for the 6-story max building and 276 parking spaces. Here’s the quick rundown:

The 266,000 SF building is comprised of three building structures and features a mix of 1 and 2-bedroom apartments. The units include balconies and patios giving residents the opportunity to take in views of Downtown Nashville or the evolving West Trinity skyline.
The property will feature a variety of shared resident amenity spaces including a fitness center, a rooftop deck, walking trails and recreational spaces. The zoning also includes an eastbound in-lane local service type shelter bus stop on Trinity Lane.
Additionally, residents will benefit from job skills training, social programming, and wellness offerings focused on wellness management and health education, made possible through a partnership with Tennessee State University’s Public Health Program and Department of Human Sciences.
Site clearing has already begun as the contractor works to cut and grade nearly 15 feet of soil to level out the site. Northview is slated for final completion in December of 2026.
