Construction is well underway at the upcoming Terry Black’s BBQ in Historic Germantown. The new 18,312 SF restaurant will anchor the prominent corner at the intersection of Rosa L parks Blvd and Monroe Street. It will also become the largest standalone restaurant along Rosa Parks between The State Capital and the Interstate. The new building will activate the former parking lot on the site at 1220 Rosa L Parks Blvd.

Developed by Black Family Hospitality (BFH), the Germantown site will serve as the first location for Terry Black’s BBQ outside of Texas. The site will also feature Opal’s Oysters, BFH’s Seafood restaurant concept. BFH launched the first Opal’s Oysters restaurant in 2024 and is located in Waco, Texas. The upcoming Germantown restaurant will be its second location. The project is designed by Nashville-based Remick Architecture, the designer behind recent boutique projects such as The Chole in Hillsboro/WestEnd.
“The building’s design draws on Germantown’s historic brick craftsmanship and industrial heritage to create a structure that feels authentically rooted in the neighborhood and timeless in character.”
Ethan Warren, Architect + Project Manager at Remick Architecture

Overall, the building consists of dual entrances, one on Monroe Street and the other from the Parking lot off Rosa L Parks. The future home of Opal’s Oysters is located at the Monroe Street entrance. It has a bar and multiple dining zones including private, indoor, and outdoor seating areas, a sunken patio, and a covered porch.
Terry Black’s BBQ will occupy the dining zones from the parking lot entrance. It features even larger dining areas, includes a mix of both indoor & outdoor seating, and multiple bars. The 2nd level includes additional dining space as well as space for private events. The back of house uses such as the smoke pit help to create the courtyard enclosing the outdoor area on all sides for an immersive experience. Here’s the quick rundown:

“We are thrilled to partner with the Black Family Hospitality team to bring Terry Black’s BBQ and Opal’s Oysters to Nashville. Terry Black’s is a nationally renowned brand, and it is a testament to our market that they chose Nashville for their first location outside of Texas. This is truly a one-of-a-kind project that will make a significant impact in the Germantown neighborhood. We’re looking forward to eating Terry Black’s world-famous BBQ in 2026.”
