Developer SomeraRoad along with The North American Guitar has announced that Nashville-based guitar store Carter Vintage Guitars has signed a lease for 13,000 SF at Paseo South Gulch. The transaction encompasses the entire second floor of the revitalized Antiques building found within SomeraRoad’s mixed-use district Paseo South Gulch which is currently under construction. The property is located near the corner of Fogg Street and 8th Avenue South.

“We’re proud to be able to keep a popular and celebrated destination for music lovers like Carter Vintage Guitars in the neighborhood and have it as a flagship destination within our project. They’ll join an exciting mix of carefully tailored tenants that will deliver exceptional and unique experiences to those who visit, live or work at Paseo South Gulch.”
— Jonathon Reeser, Principal and Co-Head of Acquisitions at SomeraRoad
Christie and Walter Carter founded Carter Vintage Guitars in November 2012 with the vision of providing a comfortable place for fine fretted instruments and the people who appreciate them. When the company was founded, both had more than 25 years of experience in the guitar and music industry. The North American Guitar was founded in London in 2010 by Montague and his father, Robert Montague.
“We’re excited to continue Carter Vintage in the neighborhood where it all began,” said Ben Montague, CEO of The North American Guitar, which merged with Carter Vintage Guitars in 2022. “Combining the legacy that Walter and Christie Carter built at their legendary location on 8th Avenue with the historic Antiques building next door feels like the perfect match. We want to ensure Carter Vintage remains just as convenient of a stop on 8th Avenue as it always has been, and the additional showroom space will help us to better serve our customers across the globe and the local vintage guitar market that Music City is known and loved for.”

With the addition of Carter Vintage Guitars, SomeraRoad’s revitalization of the Antiques building is 100% leased. Previously opened Antiques tenants included GoodVets, a vet focused on smartly designed and stress-free spaces with unparalleled patient care, and Two Hands, a New York City-based all-day café founded and run by native Australians. Coming soon are Blind Barber, a speakeasy and barber shop, and Maiz de la Vida, a heralded food truck opening its first brick-and-mortar location with Paseo alone.
Paseo South Gulch is a multi-phased mixed-use development. SomeraRoad is next turning its attention to the revitalized Voorhees building which offers 44,000 sf of available office space including full floors with 360-degree views. Work is expected to begin soon on a rooftop addition to Voorhees. The building will be the future home of award-winning restaurant the Catbird Seat and Patterson House as well as Barista Parlor.

In addition, Prima is currently under construction between the revitalized Antiques and Voorhees building, will offer 278 multifamily units, 18k SF of Class A office space, and 8,000 SF of retail. Its expected completion is by the end of the year. Three additional towers will follow Prima, and all will complement and connect with the adaptive reuse of the Antiques building and the Voorhees building, which were awarded the 2021 INVEST Award by the Nashville Downtown Partnership.
