Belmont University has submitted plans for a 10-story, 714 bed residential tower – Caldwell Hall 2. The tower will join the recently completed Caldwell Hall tower located next to the proposed site on Caldwell Avenue. The recently completed facility comes in at 268,000 SF while the newly proposed tower comes in at +\-323,600 SF. Caldwell Hall 2 is located 1407 Caldwell Avenue.
The University is expanding its footprint with several major campus facilities both recently completed and under construction. In addition to Caldwell Hall, the University is nearing the completion of the Jack Massey Center and its New Medical School – The Thomas F. Frist College of Medicine. The University has also recently completed the award-winning Fisher Center For The Performing Arts.
A request for final site plan approval was submitted for the collection of properties which make up the project site and are located within the Belmont University Institutional Overlay. Once approved, the request will permit the new residential hall on the 3.51 acres site. The request was submitted by Catalyst Design Group on behalf of the various owners. Here’s the quick rundown:

Designed by ESa, the new tower draws inspiration from the previously completed tower also by the same architect. The collegiate-Tudor style exterior will contain brick and stone elements found in surrounding campus architecture. The project has a combination of plazas, courtyards, and a comprehensive landscape plan throughout the facility. Exterior improvements will also create a more pedestrian friendly connection at the access road that intersects 15th Avenue S. Slide the images below for context on the building’s location.
The preliminary submission did not include floor plans; however, the project looks to feature amenities similar to the adjacent tower. The project is scheduled for the 6/22/2023 Metro Planning agenda.
