Andrew Ostrowski, owner of Pontoon Saloon, has launched a new water taxi to add to the multimodal transportation options in Nashville. CityNowNext Emerge hosted an event in April themed, “Retooling What’s Now & Next In Nashville”, where CRE stakeholders got a first-hand experience on two river cruises. During the event, Ostrowski proposed the idea to serve new developments along the Cumberland River, connect more people to other retail establishments in and around downtown Nashville, and provide a new game day experience for Nissan Stadium. The home port of the Cumberland Cat is Lock One Marina located 2 miles north of downtown Nashville near the upcoming Oracle development at River North.

“With Nashville’s tremendous growth and limited non-road dependent options we see a great opportunity to help Nashville move more efficiently but also with an improved experience. The Nashville Water Taxi is our answer to that. We’re thrilled to bring this new experience to the community but also bring more eyes to the investment needed on our waterfront infrastructure. Our first phase is launching this year with the Gameday Water Taxi, we’re excited to host all you Titans Fans!”

Nashville Water Taxi will set sail this fall with the launch of the Cumberland Cat, their first 49-passenger water taxi located in downtown Nashville. The aluminum hull 49-passenger twin-engine vessel is a USCG-inspected vessel, and comes with two crew members, a restroom, and a bar onboard. Nashville Water Taxi will be cruising with history cruises, private events, and other fun family-friendly tours this fall.

Ostrowski is also working with Developers, Metro, TDOT, and The Army Corps Of Engineers to identify infrastructure needs and improvements to expand the service. Many projects are in the early planning stages, making the timing of this proposal ideal. The Cumberland River has become the focus for redevelopment with projects spanning from Shelby Park to the Nations. Some of these projects include the construction of the new Titans stadium, River North mixed-use district, which is slated to open later this year, and the recently completed Neuhoff District. There are also other projects both planned, under construction, and existing on the South and West banks of the Cumberland River which could also benefit.

The first Game Day Water Taxi is launching this September, and will run for the full 2024/25 Tennessee Titans Football season to Nissan Stadium. The service is departing from Lock One Marina and allows fans to avoid the typical game day traffic while cruising the scenic Cumberland River. The goal of the Game Day Water Taxi is to ensure that both locals and tourists can experience the river’s charm in reach of their destinations while avoiding traffic gridlock, allowing ease of access but also an inexpensive tailgating option.
Tickets for the Game Day Water Taxi are $20/person round trip and $25 parking/tailgating at Lock One Marina. For reservations click the link here.
