The Motley will soon transform the gateway into Midtown, along Church Street, with a multi-phase mixed-use Development. Phase one is currently under construction and features a 26-story residential tower above 15,000+ SF restaurant and retail space. The Motley is permitted for of 1,350 max multifamily units or 1,150 units and 200 hotel rooms. The project is located at the corner of Church Street and 14th Avenue N at the border of Downtown & Midtown Nashville. The address is 1401 Church Street.
The Motley has a unique opportunity to set the standard for what the retail and pedestrian experience can be on the West-End of Church Street. With more than 1 Million SF of planned adjacent mixed-use development, potential tenants can become mainstays or cornerstones of the Midtown Gateway, as the area continues to evolve.

The nearest retail center is at Nashville Yards and The Motley will now continue that level of retail activation beyond the Gulch along Church Street. The map below shows a sample of upcoming and surrounding retail.

The lower level has access and frontage along Church Street and 14th Ave facing Downtown. There’s +/- 6,419 SF of double-height retail space, on the lower level, given the project’s Central Plaza which sits a few feet higher than Church Street. There is access to the Plaza is from 14th Ave using the monumental stair and on Church Street through a paseo next to the retail space. There is another 5,327 SF of space facing Church Street on the opposite side of the Paseo toward 15th Avenue.

The retail activation continues along the plaza with +-/ 2,000 SF of retail space adjacent to the lower level retail. It has a large outdoor patio opportunity which can be shared with the other 1,347 SF retail shell next door. The spaces will be delivered as a cold dark shell, has onsite retail parking, and windows which wrap around the space.

Designed by Hastings, the project façade takes design inspiration from the former dairy plant which once occupied the site. Axiom Builders have started site excavation for the underground parking structure for the 26-story tower in Phase 1. The project is anticipated to deliver in 2027.
