BELL Construction has officially broken ground on the new Humphreys County Law Enforcement Center. The General Contractor notes that this is the county’s most significant project investment to date and will serve as both the Sheriff’s Department headquarters and a 178-bed county jail.

“This new facility will be one that will meet our County’s needs,” said Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis. “It will have enhanced security measures, modernized housing and upgraded administrative areas that have been needed for sometime that will bring us not only a new home but one that will allow us to serve our citizens at a higher level than ever before.”
“Facilities like this play an important role in how communities support public safety and long-term outcomes,” said BELL Construction Director of Justice Rick Bruining. “This center is designed to bring together security, efficiency and durability in a way that better serves staff, supports operations and meets the evolving needs of Humphreys County.”

The 47,000-square-foot facility will replace the existing Humphreys County Jail. Designed for long-term durability and operational efficiency, the two-story building is engineered to serve its growing community by blending heavy-duty security with modern administrative design.
Built on a reinforced concrete foundation and topped with a high-performance insulated roofing system, the facility is designed for long-term durability. Its future-focused safety and security features include a two-van secure sallyport for controlled inmate transfers and specialized smoke exhaust systems that enhance safety for all occupants. Together, these elements ensure the facility is equipped to serve Humphreys County’s public safety needs for decades to come.
Construction is expected to be completed in late 2027.
