The US Department Of Veteran Affairs is eyeing North Nashville for a proposed VA Outpatient Medical Center.  The site is located within the Kingdom Land mixed-use campus, on land developed by the American Baptist Theological Seminary. The site is located adjacent to the American Baptist College campus at 0 Baptist World Center Drive.

The American Baptist Theological Seminary advanced the land packaging stage in August of 2025 for the new Kingdom Land mixed-use development. The project proposes a mix of 500 dwelling units at different intensities as well as 500,000 SF of non-residential uses in 2 phases.  Slide the image below for context.

The new VA Outpatient Medical Center will be developed in accordance with the latest VA design standards, delivering a state-of-the-art healthcare facility focused on comprehensive, coordinated care for the region’s veteran population. The facility will provide a full range of essential services, including primary care, rehabilitation, mental health services, radiology, audiology, ophthalmology, and women’s health.

A request has been submitted to rezone from R6 to SP zoning for a portion of property.  Once approved, the request will permit the nonresidential development with medical uses, on the 18.12 acres siteS. The request was submitted by E2L FDS Nashville, LLC, on behalf of the property owner. Here’s the quick rundown:

The VA Outpatient Medical Center is designed to enhance connectivity and accessibility while preserving and elevating the site’s natural features, including its relationship to the Cumberland River.

According to the submitted plans, the development emphasizes an enhanced streetscape along Baptist World Center Drive, incorporating a memorial plaza and native landscaping to create a welcoming and accessible arrival experience. These improvements are intended to strengthen the connection between the public realm and the facility’s main entry pavilion, while providing an inviting environment for veterans, visitors, and staff.

Construction is anticipated to begin in the third to fourth quarter of 2026, with project completion expected in the fourth quarter of 2028.

The project is slated for the 5.14.2026 Metro Planning Commission Agenda.
