Studio 8 Design is an architecture practice focused on civic, adaptive reuse, and mixed-use work throughout the region. Led by Anna Ruth Kimbrough, Matt Taylor & Jennifer Atcher. Their roots are in Middle Tennessee, but their portfolio extends across the Southeast with public partners, developers, and commercial clients who need both creativity and commitment from their designers. As Matt Taylor expressed to me during our early discussions, “We do our best work in places that are growing but still care about their unique community identity and want to protect what makes them distinct.”

Studio 8 has grown through relationships and the trust that clients have placed in them over time. They partner with municipal and civic entities and private developers across vertical markets and pride themselves on long-term & repeat clients. They partner with clients to help guide their visions as that as they grow into new communities across the region and help bridge their identity within the new areas they serve. One thing that stands out about our conversations is that they truly care about work that is thoughtful, well executed, and true to the place it belongs.
Some of their work includes civic and community projects like Franklin City Hall and Franklin Bicentennial Park, along with reinvestment and mixed-use work such as Margin District, 231 Public Square, Noelle, and Grays on Main. They’ve also worked in communities like Shelbyville and Gallatin, where growth brings both opportunity and the need to build thoughtfully. Across project types and locations, the thread running through their work is respect for context, strong collaboration, and a focus on lasting value.
