Sila Developments and Triumph Hospitality celebrated the groundbreaking of the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Nashville West End – University Area (Holiday Inn Express). Designed by architect SV Design, the 184-room hotel is located on Rock Block in West End at the corner of Elliston Place and Louise Avenue. It is also one block away from Vanderbilt University and a short walk to Centennial Park. The address is 2221 Elliston Place.
“Elliston Place, fondly known as The Rock Block, has a rich history that stretches back over one hundred years. It was a bustling hub of commerce in the late 1800s, a place where people came together to enjoy live music, delectable cuisine, and the company of friends. As we break ground for this new Holiday Inn Express, we honor Elliston Places’ past while embracing the promise of its future.”
Andy Bhakta, Principle, Sila Developments
The property has changed hands 8 times peaking at different points since it became known as Rock Block in the 80’s. This era gave the birth to such venues such as the Exit/In and The Gold Rush, and The End to name a few. The property peaked at $925,000 in 1982, at $700,000 in 1991, and last sold for $6.4 Million in 2019 according to public filings. The developer also has plans to install a historic display wall documenting the history of Rock Block. Elliston Place has also become a development hotspot with significant updates to the Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital Campus, Vanderbilt University, as well as planned multifamily projects.
