The Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC) has released official renderings of its new facility on the Nashville East bank. The rendering announcement comes on the heels of the project’s submission for permit approval earlier this month. Designed by Danish architect Bjarke Ingels Group, the renderings offer additional context to what was included in the permit submission.

Local talent for the project includes Hastings Architecture, Kimley Horn, along with JE Dunn, RC Matthews, and Don Hardin Group for the construction team. The new Tennessee Performing Arts Center is designed to be both an architectural landmark and part of the neighborhood it serves. It will bring performance, education, and public space together in one connected cultural campus.

The new 377,000 SF performing arts facility will be located on Parcel E, of the Central Waterfront District of the East Bank. It will be located directly next to the upcoming East Point neighborhood developed by Fallon and across from the New Nissan Stadium. The building is wrapped in a series of aluminum tubes and includes landscaped areas around the entire facility.

Overall, the facility will include two large performance spaces and two intimate performance spaces which are connected by a central lobby. At the top, a roof terrace opens to sweeping views of Broadway, the Cumberland River and the Nashville skyline.

The new performing arts center includes two main halls, The Grand Hall and Dance & Opera Hall. From the street level, the two main halls flank the lobby in the center of the building. From the MCM there is a bridge lobby which features a cabaret for intimate events and flexible black box theater. The two lobbies emerge from the MCM & Street level and are connected through a set of cascading stairs.

The new facility will have access from the re-imagined pedestrian bridge (the future Music City Mile) or from the street level. There is also access via monuments stairs, on the East & West of the new performing arts center up to the Music City Mile (MCM). The images below show access from the MCM and provide a visual of the East Monument Stair.
